Both the novice and advanced printmaker will find DPW printmaking classes that
accommodate and challenge their skill level.
Courses are held throughout the year on Tuesday evenings, 7 to 10 pm. (unless otherwise noted)
Class sizes are kept to a minimum in order to facilitate individual instruction.

Spring + Summer 2010
Linocut
Instructor: Andrea Taylor
Tuesday evenings, March 2 - April 13, 2010
7-10 pm
All levels - 6 students maximum
Learn to make linocut prints. Instruction takes the student through planning to transferring an image to the block, carving and printing the image. Learn a simple two colour block printing method. Opportunity is also available for intermediate and advanced students to work with reduction linocut and other advanced techniques. Everyone can carve, print and edition a plate!
Etching II
Instructor: Kelly Haydon
Tuesday evenings, April 20 - June 1, 2010
7-10 pm
Intermediate - 8 students maximum
This course will give participants an opportunity to further develop their etching skills with instruction, demonstrations, and studio time. We will focus on tonal work using aquatint and students will be introduced to colour printing using a variety of inking techniques. Suitable for students with a basic background or for those who wish to refresh their skills.
Photographic Etching
Instructor: Daemon Baldwin
Saturday mornings, June 5 + 12, 2010
10 am - 3 pm
Intermediate / Advanced - 10 students maximum
Learn to etch copper with Imagon/Riston using simple ‘home brewed’ methods. No longer will you feel the need for a darkroom, fancy exposure unit, or any other specific-use and expensive equipment. It all starts with your home computer and basic Photoshop usage, and quickly moves to the etching bath.
Note: Students must have basic computer skills.

DAEMON BALDWIN
Daemon Baldwin is a full-time graphic designer and part-time artist with an MFA in printmaking. A move to Vancouver 5 years ago has provided the community foundation and resources to continue the pursuit of his dream of becoming a full-time artist and part-time
designer.
KELLY HAYDON
Kelly Haydon, member and teacher at Dundarave Print Workshop and UNYA fell in love with etching 14 years ago and hasn’t looked back. Her prints have been exhibited nationally and internationally and her etchings have been published in book form.

MIKOLAJ SMOLINSKI
Mikolaj Smolinski was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1983. Mikolaj studied studio art at the University of Alberta, where he completed an MFA in printmaking in 2003 and taught various courses in printmaking, studio practice and design.

BARB SNYDER
Barb Snyder has a BSc in Zoology from the University of B.C. and has taken numerous courses in Fine Arts. As a member of Dundarave Print Workshop for over 10 years, Barb has participated in many print shows and experiments with numerous forms of printmaking, in particular, working from personal nature photographs.
ANDREA TAYLOR
Andrea Taylor has a particular love for relief printmaking, etching and letterpress printing and brings this enthusiasm to her teaching. She has taught at Dundarave, Mountain Haven Arts and Emily Carr University for years. A book of her portrait linocuts is to be published by Heavenly Monkey.

LONE TRATT
Lone Tratt brings forth the hidden beauty of everyday life in her art and her teaching. She is a long-time instructor at DPW and at the Jewish Community Centre.

Course Fees: $250.00 + materials (ranging from $10 – $25 depending on the course), + GST (unless otherwise noted.)
All classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 7 - 10 pm (unless otherwise noted.) at Dundarave Print Workshop

registration.
Each course includes a Printing Safety orientation.
Registration: Students are advised to register
early as classes fill quickly.
A deposit of 50% of the course fee is required upon registration, with the balance
of the course fee due at the first class.

Withdrawals: With notice of more than two weeks,
DPW will refund fees minus an administrative fee of $30. With less than two weeks

Cancellations: Courses may occasionally be
cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen reasons. Should
DPW cancel a course, a full refund or credit for another course will be
issued.
